Two Covid-19 patients test negative, 1 tests positive

Imphal: Two Covid-19 patients, a mother, 63 and her daughter, 23 from Kamjong district who had been treated at Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), here were tested negative of Covid-19 while a 23 years old male was tested positive of the virus.

The samples of the mother and daugther were tested at RIMS on Thursday night and the results came negative of the disease, and discharged from the hospital in the afternoon.

They were found negative in two consecutive tests. They are Covid-19 free and discharged in the afternoon. They will continue home quarantine for the next 14 days, Manipur Covid-19 Control Room said.

They were admitted at the hospital on May 19. They went to Delhi in February for treatment of the mother. Consulted at AIIMS and was to be treated on April 8. They stayed at Kotla Mubarakpur in a rent house. They returned from Delhi by road and had been quarantined at state quarantine centre opened at IIIT, Mantripukhri, here.

They started their return journey in a bus from Safdarjung and reached Manipur on May 16.

The control room said 580 individuals were tested at VRDL of Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences and all results are found negative and 258 individuals were tested at the VRDL of RIMS and only one male 23 was found Covid-19 positive. He will be shifted to Covid Care Facility at RIMS. All necessary preventive and control measures are now in place, it added.

The total number of positive cases has increased to 59 and after discharge of the two from RIMS the number of active cases now stands at 52. Total recovered cases are seven, it said.
