Covid-19 cases reach 83 in Manipur

Imphal: With five more persons confirmed positive for Covid-19, Manipur has recorded 83 positive cases and 72 active cases as on Monday.

Three of them were confirmed positive of Coronavirus at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal. They were a 17 years old female and two males of 20 and 26 years of ages. They were returnees from Delhi.

The other two were tested at Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal. They were a male, 25 and a female, 19.

The male is from Imphal West and is a Delhi returnee. The female is from Kamjong district and is a Chennai returnee.

They are being shifted to the Covid Care Facilities of the hospitals and their conditions are stable. All necessary precautionary measures such as containment and contact tracing are now in place, Manipur Covid-19 Control Room said.

The total number of persons found Covid-19 positive on Mondat is five. The total number of positive cases has increased to 83 and the number of active cases to 72. The phased reopening of restrictions (Unlock-I), while boosting the general economy will also necessitate non-medical measures like social distancing, wearing of face mask and hand hygiene. These are very effective and proven methods of prevention. These are also considered a part of medical modernity. An appeal is made to the citizens to adopt and practice these social/ non-medical measures, it added.
