Imphal: Transporter and Drivers’ Council (TDC) has warned the state government to complete renovation of Inter State Bus Terminus (ISBT) complex in Imphal in five days.
If the renovation is not completed within the ultimatum served, trucks will be parked outside ISBT campus, TDC president H. Ranjit said during a press conference held here on Wednesday.
He said as per announcement the council has arranged a heavy-duty crane at ISBT on Wednesday to pull out trucks stuck at ISBT.
With the imposition of lockdown state government instructs all the goods carrying trucks should park inside ISBT and verification of trucks will be done inside the campus. As the inter-state bus service has stopped trucks remained inside the said campus, he added.
Ranjit said as the surface of ISBT campus was not constructed for goods trucks large portion of ISBT needs renovation. With the advent of monsoon season the ISBT compound has been destroyed drastically creating enormous difficulties to park trucks.
During a visit by a team of TDC members including its president inside ISBT campus, some trucks were found stuck in muds. Trucks were seen struggling to get inside the campus to follow the government protocol to get verification from state transport department officials. Goods trucks were verified inside the campus and officials to give permission for carrying goods or to unload goods, he added.
Ranjit said a team of TDC led by its secretary has deputed to monitor the goods trucks. Goods trucks returned in good condition from outside the state have to repair if the such trucks get stuck inside ISBT campus.
He said even if the trucks are parked on roadside, drivers can get permission inside the ISBT campus from the authority concerned, he added.
