2 doctors, 3 nurses test positive for COVID-19 in Manipur, total cases hit 898

Imphal: Five health workers – two doctors and three nurses have been confirmed positive for COVID-19 among 57 persons confirmed of the disease in Manipur on Monday.

The health workers have no travel history. Two medical officers and a nurse are from District Hospital, Bishnupur and the other two nurses are from GBC, Staff Quarantine Centre, Churachandpur.

Positive COVID-19 cases in Manipur have reached 898 with the confirmation of 57 persons (41 males, 16 females) as new positive cases at VRDLs of RIMS and JNIMS, Imphal. Out of them, 18 are confirmed at RIMS and the remaining 39 are confirmed at JNIMS.

The new cases including the health workers are from the districts of Bishnupur (3), Chandel (21), Churachandpur (8), Imphal East (1), Kakching (10), Kamjong (3), Kangpokpi (2), Tamenglong (4), Thoubal (1) and Senapati (4).

Fifty two of them are returnees from other states. They are being shifted to the COVID Care Facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, state Covid-19 common control room said.

“There is no community transmission,” the control room said. The figure of active cases has turned to 648. The cumulative number of Health Care Workers positive is six and active is five, it added.
