COVID-19 cases spike to 921 in Manipur

Imphal: Total number of positive cases for COVID-19 has reached 921 and the active cases stood at 663 mark as on Tuesday in Manipur.

In the last twenty four hours, 23 persons (5 males, 18 females) were confirmed as new COVID-19 positive cases from the VRDLs of RIMS (7) and JNIMS (16). They are from the districts of Chandel (2), Churachandpur (1), Imphal West (6), Kakching (1), Kangpokpi (2) and Senapati (11). All are returnees from other states. They are being shifted to the COVID Care Facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, state COVID-19 common control room said.

Eight persons (Imphal West 5, Kakching -1 and Noney-2) were discharged on Tuesday from CCC, UNACCO after they were found COVID-19 free on RT PCR test. The total number of recovered cases is 258. The recovery rate is 28.01 percent, it added.

Health care workers are constantly facing hazards like pathogens, physical stress, mental strain, fatigue and distractions. They need to follow standard protocols for donning and doffing of PPE, wearing of N-95 or Triple layer Mask and Hand Hygiene. The managers of LTCF (Long Term Care Facilities) should facilitate training of the Health Care Workers and rigorous implementation of IPCP (Infection Prevention and Control Protocols) in their respective institutions. Protection of Health Care Workers is necessary to preserve the health of the people, the control room said.
