Imphal city’s Dharamsala declared containment zone

Imphal: Imphal city’s Dharamsala located at Thangal Bazar has been declared as containment zone following confirmation of two residents of Thangmeiband Assembly

Constituency, who have been quarantined at  Dharamsala community quarantine centre, as positive for Covid-19.

Deputy commissioner, Imphal West district, Naorem Praveen Singh in an order issued on Wednesday said it has become expedient to issue containment measures to prevent the spread of the disease in the area.

In exercise of the powers conferred under Para 12 of “The Manipur Epidemic Diseases, Covid- 19 Regulations, 2020” and in pursuance of the advisory of the director general af health services (EMR division), ministry of health and family welfare, in regard to containment of Covid -19, the deputy commissioner declared containment measures in the geographical area with immediate effect.

The order announced sealing of the geographical area, entry and exit of population from the containment area, closure of schools, offices, if any and banning public gathering of any type, banning vehicular movement in the area, nitiating active surveillance of Covid-19 cases and compulsory use of Aarogya Setu application by all the people staying and residing within the containment area.

The containment area covers Gurudwara road in the north, Dharamsala road in the south,  Dharamsala Road running on the eastern side of Bhairodan Maxwell Hindi Primary and High School in the east and Dharamsala road  running on the eastern side of Kolkata Hardware store in the west.

The order cautioned that any person or institution or organization found violating any of the containment measures shall be deemed to have committed an offence punishable under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860.

Superintendent of police, Imphal West has been requested to strictly ensure perimeter control over the containment zone and allow movement only for medical emergencies and supply of essential commodities and services and immediate necessary enforcement. He was also requested to submit day-to-day situation report.
