3 health workers test negative, COVID-19 cases rise to 1092

Imphal: All the 3 staff of District Hospital Bishnupur who were admitted at RIMS have become negative to COVID-19 test conducted on Saturday.

All the sample of family members, close contacts, caterers and the district hospital staff who attended the Isolation ward during the 2nd week starting from June 15, whose samples were collected on Friday have also returned negative results, chief medical officer, Bishnupur, Dr L. Gojendra Singh said.

With 17 persons (12 males, 5 females) confirmed as new COVID-19 positive cases front the VRDLs of RIMS total positive cases rose to 1092.

The new positive cases are from the districts of Imphal West (11), Kakching (1). Thoubal (1) and Ukhrul (4). All are returnees from other states. They are being shifted to the COVID Care Facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing. are in place, Manipur COVID-19 common control said.

A total of 39 persons are discharged from CCC. Meitram (10) and JNIMS (29) after they were found free from the disease on RT PCR test. The total numbers of positive, active and recovered cases are 1092, 660 and 432 respectively. The recovery rate is 39.56 percent, it added.

Quarantine is a very effective means for prevention of spread of COVID-19 to the general community. However strict adherence to protocol is needed to maximize the effect. It has been noticed that some inmates in some quarantine centres do nut follow the protocol, endangering. COVID-19 spill over to the general community. All are requested to observe the protocol, the control room said.
