37 positive, 23 negative for COVID-19 in Manipur

Imphal: Thirty-seven persons (30 males, 7 females) were confirmed as new COVID-19 cases at VRDL of RIMS as on Friday.

They are from the districts of Jiribam (28), Thoubal (3) and Ukhrul (6). They will be shifted to the COVID Care Facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, Manipur Covid-19 common control room informed.

It said 23 persons were discharged from CCCS of Meitram (11), Chandel (2), Kasom Khullen (5), Ukhrul (2) and COVID Care Facility of RIMS (3) after they were found COVID-19 free on RT PCR test.

The cumulative number of positive cases is 1316. The numbers of active and recovered cases are 677 and 639 respectively. The recovery rate is 48.35 percent, it added.

Spread of COVID-19 is divided into stages of no case, sporadic cases, clustering of cases and community transmission. There is evidence of local clustering of cases at the Jiribam Police Station. “There is no community transmission,” it said.

Efforts are made to look after the mental well-being of the people affected by COVID-19. Till now, state Psychological Support team has conducted 9,227 counselling sessions and benefited 7,449 individual clients.
