41 positive, 22 negative for COVID-19 in Manipur

Imphal: In the last twenty four hours, 41 persons (32 males, 9 females) were confirmed as new COVID-19 cases at VRDLs of RIMS (21) and JNIMS (20).

They are from the districts of Churachandpur (1), Imphal East (1), Imphal West (6), Kakching (4), Kamjong (6), Kangpokpi (18), Noney (1), Tamenglong (2), and Ukhrul (2). They will be shifted to the COVID Care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, an official statement said on Sunday.

As on Sunday 22 persons were discharged from CCCS of Meitram (7), Ukhrul (2) and Tamenglong Hr. Sec. School (8) and COVID Care Facility of JNIMS (5) after they were found COVID-19 free on RT PCR test.

The cumulative number of positive cases is 1366. The numbers of active and recovered cases are 677 and 689 respectively. The recovery rate is 50.43 percent, state COVID-19 common control room said.

Common symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, sore throat, cough, body ache and shortness of breath. These symptoms are also found in Influenza like illnesses and Severe Acute Respiratory Infections. Any person with these symptoms should undergo COVID-19 testing. Health care providers, irrespective of the patient’s travel or contact history should facilitate the testing by contacting the respective district surveillance officers, it added.
