Only 5 confirmed positive for COVID-19, 22 tested negative on Tuesday

Imphal: Showing sign of effectiveness of control measures taken up by state authority only five persons have been confirmed positive of COVID-19, while 22 persons have been tested negative as on Wednesday in Manipur.

According to an official report,  in the past twenty four hours, five persons (4 males, 1 female) were confirmed at as new COVID-19 positive cases at JNIMS. All are from Senapati district.

They are being shifted to COVID Care Facility, Senapati. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, COVID-19 common control room said.

Twenty persons were discharged from CCCs of Meitram (14), Senapati (2), Kamjong (1) and COVID Care Facilities of RIMS (1) and JNIMS (4) after they were found COVID 19 free on RT PCR test, it added.

At present the cumulative number of positive cases is 1435. The numbers of active and recovered cases are 642 and 793 respectively. The recovery rate is 55.26 percent, the official report said.

Chief minister N. Biren Singh launched Rapid Antigen Test Kits on Wednesday. At least 300 kits have been sent to Jiribam and testing started from today itself and 15,000 kits have been received from ICMR and kits will be sent to other districts also as per requirement, the health authority said.
