Manipur seems as it has no health minister: MLA Joykishan

Imphal: With the increasing number of Covid-19 active cases in Manipur there are chanches for the state to enter the stage of community spread, however, it seems that the state has no health minister in this crucial situation, Congress MLA Kh. Joykishan said.

He appealed health minister L. Jayantakumar to resume his work as a responsible minister by keeping aside the political crisis.

The minister from NPP, Jayantakumar had tendered resignation along with three other NPP ministers including deputy chief minister Y. Joykumar to leave BJP-led coalition government, but later returned to the government after an agreement was brought between the two parties recently.

Saying that number of Covid-19 patients have been increased day by day, even health professionals are being infected with the virus, Joykishan, said it is no time to take credit when things go wrong.

Joykishan was talking to reporters at his Thangmeiband residence here on Friday.

He said even the chief minister is not taking any further steps regarding the increasing number of infected persons and this might be due to the fear of central leaders in connection with the political crisis.

In the past the health minister chanted “no retreat, no surrender” while fighting against Covid-19. Despite of giving mere words he should take necessary steps being a health minister, Joykishan said.

Deputy chief minister has started resuming his official duty after his portfolios were re-engaged, Joykisan said and appealed the health minister to resume his official duty to combat Covid-19 attacks.
