700 litres of liquor detected in vehicle with tinted films

Imphal: Churachandpur Police on Saturday detected 700 litres of distilled indigenous country liquor from one vehicle with tilted glass during its drive against vehicles with illegal tinted glasses in Churachandpur.

The liquor was seized and disposed off in presence of women groups against drugs and alcohol, media and representatives from the excise department.

A total of 21 vehicles with tinted glasses were detected in Churachandpur and a total fine of Rs 3500 was also collected under MV Act.

The district police said it will continue to conduct such drive on order to prevent crimes and anti-social activities in the district.

State police have been conducting drive against vehicles with tinted glass since Thursday.

Imphal West police detained 465 vehicles with tinted glass. The vehicles were released after removal of tinted films. The vehicle owners and drivers were given strict instruction not to use tinted glasses again, superintendent of police, Imphal West, Meghachandra said.

In Thoubal district 38 vehicles with tinted films were detained and collected a total fine of Rs 21, 950 including for violation of traffic rules and not for wearing masks.
