Imphal: Manipur chief minister N. Biren Singh has congratulated Gyanendro Ningomba on being named as new officiating president of Hockey India.
“It is a matter of great pride for Manipur and I believe that Indian Hockey will be taken to a great height under your (Gyanendro) presidenship,” Biren posted on his Facebook wall on Saturday.
Gyanendro, resident of Khongman, Imphal East district was named president of Hockey India on Friday following the resignation letter of Mohd Mushtaque Ahmad received by Hockey India on July 7 due to his personal and family commitments.
