Manipur Congress refutes allegation of coercive act against former BJP MLA

Imphal: Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee has refuted allegation made by former BJP MLA S. Subhachandra that he was forced by Congress to resign as MLA and member of BJP.

Former chief minister and CLP leader, Okram Ibobi Singh said Subhachandra made a complaint to state police that he was slapped by Congress members and forced him for the resignation, which is shameful and baseless.

He said Subhachandra left BJP and came to Congress on his own will and not under the influence of state Congress, the act of Subhachandra is to defame democracy.

Ibobi said the present trend of blaming one another in the political scenario of Manipur makes him ashamed of being a politician. The clarification has to be made against continuous allegation to state Congress, he added.

Ibobi was speaking in a press conference on Friday held at its state party office, here.

Subhachandra alleged that he was forced to resign from primary membership of Bharatiya Janata Party and being MLA of Naoriya Pakhanglakpa Assembly Constituency. In the FIR lodged at Patsoi police station by former MLA Subhachandra mentioned that he was threatened by Congress MLA Th. Lokeshor and K. Meghachandra, Ibobi said.

He tendered his resignationon June 17 from the primary membership of BJP and being MLA. The resignation was approved by Speaker of Manipur State Assembly on June 18 and state president of BJP also expelled him from the party for six years for his anti-party activity, he added.

The allegation he made that he was slapped by Lokeshor and Meghachandra is baseless, Ibobi said.

In the FIR it is also mentioned that minister Biswajit along with some Congress MLA forced him to tender his resignation. Ibobi said congress party do not have any relation with Biswajit.
