Positive cases for COVID-19 hit 1800 in Manipur

Imphal: Thirty-three persons have been confirmed positive for COVID-19 on Friday bringing up the commutative number of positive cases to 1800 in Manipur.

The new positive cases, 20 males and 16 femlaes were confirmed at VRDLs RIMS (3) and JNIMS (5) and DHs of Jiribam (1), Thoubal (4) and Ukhrul (23). They belong to the districts of Bishnupur (3), Churachandpur (2), Jiribam (1), Thoubal (5) and Ukhrul (25).

According to state COVID-19 common control room, they were shifted to the COVID care facilities.

All (except four persons from Thoubal district and one student of RIMS) are returnees from other states. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, the control room said.

It said, in the past twenty four hours, 34 persons were discharged from CCCs of Meitram, I/W (14), RD Wing, Lamphel (4), Senapati (4), Ukhrul (2) and COVID Care Facilities of RIMS (1) and JNIMS (9) after they were found COVID-19 free on RT PCR test.

The numbers of active and recovered cases are 637 and 1163 respectively. The recovery rate is 64.61 percent, it added.
