Topper girls aim high to serve Manipur

Imphal:  “I aim to become an IAS officer and I will continue my studies at DM University considering financial condition,” Arts stream topper in the Higher Secondary Examination, 2020 Menaka said.

Menaka was a student of Tamphasana Girls Higher Secondary School.

“I was very excited when I saw my name on the top,” the girl from Kwakeithel Moirangpurel Leikai, Imphal West said.

She said the credit of her success goes to her parents, teachers and friends.

She is the only child in the family. Her father passed away about 5 years ago. Her mother works as a sweeper at Imphal Municipal Corporation earning Rs 6, 500 a month.  

She used to study 3-4 hours a day and about 6-7 hours during holidays.

Her mother said she could not do much for her career and it’s due to Menaka’s effort she got the position.

Commerce topper Justina, as student of Tamphasana Girls Higher Secondary School from Kangla Siphai, Imphal East said, “I did not aim to top in the exam. I tried my best concentrating in studies paying attention to teachers. My aim is to become a charter accountant.

Her father is a contract driver at Doordarshan Kendra, Imphal and her mother is a housewife. Her mother said, “I cried when my daughter came in the paddy field and told me her exam result,”

Science topper Archana Hijam, a student of Meci Explorer Academy, Imphal, said, “I dream of becoming a civil service officer to work for a change in the education system in the state.” She said everyone has talent in their respective fields and all need to cooperate for development in the state.

Her father serves as a senior laboratory supervisor in the state medical department and her mother, a housewife.

 Menaka scored 464 marks, Justina scored 448 marks and Archana scored 485 marks out of 500.
