‘There is no evidence for community transmission in Manipur’

Imphal: “Till date there is no evidence for community transmission in any part of the state,” Manipur Covid-19 Common Control Room said on Tuesday.

It was said in a statement released updating the statistics of Covid cases in the state.

It said in the past twenty four hours, 90 persons (68 males,  22 females) were confirmed as new Covid-19 positive cases at VRDLs of RIMS (26) and JNIMS (34), DHs of Jiribam (17), Thoubal (5) and Mobile Testing Team. Imphal West (8).

They belong to the districts of Imphal East (8), Imphal West (12), Jiribam (17), Kangpokpi (25), Kakching (2), Tengnoupal (1) and Thoubal (25).

They are being shifted to the Covid care facilities, it added.

“Four persons from Thoubal district are non-returnees with local contact histories and the rest are returnees from other states,” the official statement said.

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it added.

In the past twenty four hours, 64 persons were discharged from Covid care centres of Meitram, Imphal West (16), Senapati (6), Tamenglong (27), Thoubal (4), Ukhrtil (4) and Covid Care Facility, JNIMS (7) after they were found Covid-19 free on RT PCR test, it said.

“The cumulative number of positive cases is 2015. The numbers of active and recovered cases are 631 and 1384 respectively. The recovery rate is 68.68 percent,” it added.

Non-medical measures such as social distancing, wearing of face mask, hand hygiene, cough etiquette and avoidance of non-essential travel still stands very effective for prevention of Covid-19 spread. Therefore, control of the pandemic is contingent on the complete adoption of the above practices by the public, the control room said.
