Imphal: Deputy commissioner, Thoubal on Tuesday declared that all the main markets located within Thoubal district (Lilong Bazar, Ushoipokpi bazar, Waithou Bazar, Baba Bazar, Mina Bazar, Tboubal Bazar, Wangjing Bazar, Yairipok Bazar, Nungphou Bazar) will remain closed with immediate effect until further orders.
An order issued by the deputy commissioner said several regions of Thoubal district have been notified containment zones to prevent the spread of Covid-19 pandemic in the last few days. Some of the primary contacts of the Covid positive case have been tested Covid positive with Raapid Antigen Detection Test.
Considering the increase in Covid active cases in the district during the past few days and in exercise of the powers, conferred under Section 30 of the National Disaster Management Act 2005, the deputy commissioner directed to close down the markets in Thoubal with immediate effect.
During the present Lockdown period, all religious places/places of worship shall be closed for public and religious congregations will remain prohibited. Any person violating the order will be punishable as per the provision of Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code 1860, the order said.
