International drug cartel from Manipur busted in Delhi, recovered Rs. 40 crore worth Heroin

Imphal: Manipur government will not spare anyone involved with narcotic drugs in Manipur, chief minister N. Biren Singh said on busting of an international drug cartel in Delhi.

The chief minister made the account on his Facebook post on Saturday.

The chief minister said in continuation under the War on Drugs policy of the Manipur Government, a team of Special Cell/Northern Range busted the international drug cartel.

A team of Special Cell/Northern Range, led by Inspector Puran Pant under the supervision of ACP Jasbir Singh has busted an international drug cartel by arresting its two dependable key members/carriers, a press statement issued on Friday by the Special Cell said.

The two drug transporters were Md. Ikbal Khan, 28, son of  Md. Baseruddin resident of  Kwakta, Moirang, Bishnupur, and  Md. Ishak, 27 son of Abdul Gaffer resident of Hangamthabi, Lilong, Thoubal.

Ten kg of high grade Heroin worth more than Rs. 40 crore in the international market have been recovered from them.

Three mobile handsets and SIM cards used in the drug trafficking activities and one white colour Hyundai i20 car bearing registration number AS-02W-3144, used for transportation of the contraband, concealed in its cavity, were also recovered.

“The flow of Heroin consignments of the drug cartel is from Myanmar to Manipur and then to Guwahati, Siliguri, Darjeeling, Malda, UP-West and Delhi/NCR etc.,” the press release said.
