Barak, Makru bridges project to complete by December end

Imphal: The long awaited dream of the people of Manipur will be fulfilled soon as the completion of Barak and Makru bridge projects are expected by the end of December.

Chief Minister N. Biren Singh said this on his Facebook post on Monday. He said the construction of abutments and piers have been completed and the super structure components have arrived at site.

Constructions works on Barak and Makru bridges along Imphal-Jiribam road is taken up under the ministry of road transport and highways at a cost of Rs. 109 crore.

The construction of the two iron and concrete bridges, which is handled by the public undertaking National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation was supposed to be completed by April last year.
