Another dies of COVID-19 in Manipur

Imphal: Second COVID-19 death has been reported in Manipur as a 48 years old patient of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) hospital, Imphal passed away on Thursday morning.

The deceased, a resident of Leimakhong, was admitted at the Nephrology department of the hospital on June 8 due to Chronic Kidney disease, lung infection and other health complications.

He was tested positive for COVID-19 on July 26 along with the COVID-19 patient who expired on Wednesday.

Two resident doctors from Anesthesia department of RIMS hospital were found positive of COVID-19 on Wednesday. So far 22 staff members of the hospital including doctors were found positive of the virus. Out of the five positive in-patients of the hospital, two died and and three are undergoing treatment.

Manipur on Thursday witnessed highest single day spike of 141 COVID-19 cases mounting the total cumulative positive cases to 2,458. The numbers of active and recovered cases are 805 and 1,653 respectively. The recovery rate stood at 67.24 percent.
