Covid-19: Death tally reaches 8, total positive cases 3217

Imphal: In the past 24 hours, 115 persons (65M, 50F) from general population and nine personnel from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) were confirmed as new Covid-19 positive cases at (VRDL, RIMS – 53; VRDL, JNIMS – 33; Imphal West RAT – 29; DH Kalcching – 1; Babina Diagnostics – 2; DH Churachandpur – 5; Shija Hospital – 1.

They are from Imphal West – 38; Thoubal – 35; Kakching – 6; Churachandpur – 7; Imphal East – 10; Kamjong – 4; Bishnupur – 3; Kangpokpi – 12). 21 out of the general population are returnees from other states (Kakching – 3, Kangpokpi -11, Kamjong -4, Churachandpur – 2, Bishnupur – 1) and the rest 94 are locals without any significant travel history, state common control room said.

They are being shifted to the Covid care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place,  it added.

In the past 24 hours, 43 persons were discharged from RIMS (7), Covid care centres of Meitram (23), Thoubal (5), Tamneglong (6) and Ulchrul (2) after they were found Covid-19 free on RT PCR test.

The cumulative number of positive cases is 3217 (General Population – 2681 and Central Security Personnel – 536). The cumulative number of discharged cases is 1905 (General Population – 1822 and Central Security Personnel – 83). The number of active cases is 1304 (General Population – 851 and Central Security Personnel – 453), it said.

A male, 15, from Bishnupur district died at RIMS due to Covid 19. He was also suffering from kidney problems. The cumulative number of death is 8.

The control room said in an unfortunate incident, a full term pregnant woman died at the entrance of the Casualty, Shija Hospital, Langol. A committee consisting of AD (Plg.) and DD (PH) of Health Department has constituted to look into the details of the incident.

The committee shall submit its findings within 7 days. To address the problem of denial of services in hospitals, the government has issued an order.

All government and private hospitals must ensure that any patient visiting the hospital is given prompt attention. Each hospital shall designate a staff to ensure that them is no denial of service. Any violation will be dealt seriously under Manipur Nursing Homes & Clinical Establishment Act. 2005, it added.
