Time for people to teach lesson to arrogant politicians: Gaikhangam

Imphal: Senior Congress leader Gaikhangam has said that politicians without ethics and principles are ruining people of Manipur and the state. Speaking to media persons on Thursday he termed the resignations of 5 Congress MLAs as opportunists and lacked of political maturity.

He said those politicians are responsible for the recent political turmoil in the state and also due to the brazen activities of present government which flout all democratic and constitutional laws.

Due to the resignation of those MLAs by-election is imminent. Therefore, people should teach them befitting lessons as re-electing them again will ruin democracy in Manipur, he added.

The recent move by Congress party to topple the BJP led government was incited by some Ministers and MLAs who are part of the BJP led coalition government as they took refuge with Congress due to their resentment with the government, he further added.

He said people of Manipur should give them a befitting reply in the upcoming by-elections and save democracy and rule of law in the state. Congress MLAs K. Meghachandra, K. Ranjit, K. Govindas, K. Meghachandra and Th. Lokeshwar were also present in the press meet.
