Manipur Covid-19: 86 positive, 65 recovered

Imphal: Eighty new positive cases and 65 recovered cases of Covid-19 have been reported in Manipur at 5 pm of Friday.

Covid-19 common control room said in the past 24 hours, 71 persons from general population and 15 personnel from Central Armed Police Force were confirmed as new Covid- 19 positive cases.

The positive cases are confirmed from VRDL, RIMS – 31; JNIMS – 12; STDC/IRL – 2; Raj Medicity – 1; DH Bishnupur – 2; DH Churachandpur – 11; DH Thoubal – 1; Imphal West RAT – 16; Babina Diagnostics – 10. They are from Imphal West – 28; Thoubal – 8; Imphal East – 13; Churachandpur – 9; Noney – 3; Kakching – 1; Ukhrul -3; Bishnupur – 6.

Thirteen (Churachandpur – 9, Bishnupur – 3, Kakching – 1) out of the general population are returnees from other states and the rest 59 are locals without any significant travel history. They are being shifted to the Covid Care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, the control room said.

The cumulative number of deaths is 13, it said.

In the past 24 hours, 65 persons were discharged. They are from CAPF (20), RIMS (2), CCCs of Meitram (20), Thoubal (14), DH Thoubal (4) and Noney (5) after they were found Covid-19 free on RT PCR test, it added.

The cumulative number of positive cases is 4198 (general lopulation – 3248 and central security lersonnel – 950). The cumulative number of discharged cases is 2360 (general population-2168 and central security oersonnel-192). The number of active cases is 1825 (general oopulation- 1067 and central security personnel – 758). The recovery rate is 56.21 percent.

The most common means of Covid 19 spread is when the infected droplets from an infected person enter into another person’s nose, mouth and eyes. Using face mask, goggles and avoidance of touching face often and maintenance of social distancing are adequate means of protecting self from infection, the control room said.
