Imphal: Manipur University Teachers’ Association (MUTA) expressed ‘heartfelt’ congratulation to Prof. G.P. Prasain, Dean of the School of Social Sciences, Manipur University (MU) for his appointment as vice-chancellor (VC) of Tripura University, Agartala.
A video conference was held on Saturday morning to congratulate the new VC of the Tripura varsity.
Prof. Prasain is the third faculty member of Manipur University appointed as vice-chancellor of University outside the state, MUTA said in press released on Saturday.
“The august body wishes him a great success in his new assignment,” MUTA said.
Dr. Ganga Prasad Prasain completed his M.Com and Ph.D. from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. He has thirty years of teaching experience at post graduate level and twelve years as Professor in Manipur University, Imphal. His area of specialization is Entrepreneurship Development and Human Resource Management, Marketing and Tourism Management. He has published seven books, sixty seven research papers out of which eight papers has been published in International Journals.
He has been also working as Coordinator of Indira Gandhi National Open University, Manipur University Study Centre since 2004 and Hony.Secretary of Indian Institute of Public Administration, Manipur Regional Branch since 2006. He is a member of first Court of Manipur University and Sikkim University apart from being a member of Academic Council and School Board of Studies of Manipur University, Nagaland University, Mizoram University and Assam University. He is also Executive Council Member of Rajiv Gandhi Central University, Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim University, Gangtok.
Prof. Prasain is the chief editor of the journal, Kangleipak Business Review, a peered review research journal published from the Department of Commerce, Manipur University since 1998 which is listed in the UGC websites also.
He has also conducted eighteen Seminar/Workshop/Training programme as Coordinator which were sponsored by various funding agencies. Sixteen research scholars have been awarded Ph.D. degree under his supervision. He has also completed five major research project funded by University Grant Commission, Indian Council of Social Science Research, New Delhi and Government of Manipur. Prof. Prasain has been awarded Fellow of Indian Commerce Association, New Delhi during the year 2010 and 2014. He is also a Life Member of Indian Commerce Association, Indian Accounting Association, Indian Institute of Public Administration and few more organisation of national importance. Prof. Prasain has visited United State of America, Myanmar, Bhutan and Nepal on various academic assignments.
