‘Task force for new education policy finalised’

Imphal: The formation of the special task force for effective implementation of the new education policy has been finalised and is ready for implementation in the state.

Education minister Dr Thokchom Radheshyam said this on Tuesday.

Briefing the media, the minster said as a part of the series of steps being taken up for implementation of the new education policy, brainstorming sessions, discussions and meetings on the National Education Policy, 2020  are being conducted with experts and officials by the department of education.

A meeting regarding the matter was held for the third time with the representatives of Central Institutions imparting Higher Education and officials and Principals of DM University.

The minuster said during the meeting detailed discussion was held with the officials of the central institutions in the state and principals in respect of higher education with special focus on implementation of the education policy.

The meeting was attended by the commissioner, higher and technical education and vice-chancellor, Dhanamanjuri University, M. Harekrishna, joint secretary, HTE & Registrar DMU, Dr Nivedita L.; director NIT, Prof. Dr Goutam Sutradhar, director, CDC, MU, Prof. Th. Ratankumar, registrars of CAU, NSU, MTU and officials concerned.

The meeting took consideration of the various suggestions and inputs as such of organising several rounds of seminars, discussions workshops at every level of Higher Education, wide publicity of NEP, 2020, with the distribution of the copy of NEP, 2020 to all the faculties of the Institution by the head of the respective Institute, and to take support of the various government departments while opening the various disciplines in the institute.

The nin5ister further informed that a meeting with the officials of Zonal Education officers and principals of Higher Secondary Education was held later.

He said in the meeting the possible challenges that could arise and how the already existing system can be improvised with the new education policy during the implementation of the new policy in the school section were discussed.

The meeting was attended by commissioner, education-S, T. Ranjit Singh; director education (S) L. Nandakumar Singh; Chairman COHSEM, L. Mahendra Singh and officials concerned.

Radheshyam expressed that the new education policy aims to provide the best education system rooted in Indian ethos and to transform India into a global knowledge superpower. The review meetings were held at the conference hall of Samagra Siksha, Manipur.

Emphasizing on the need for a thorough understanding of the policy the minister appealed to all stakeholders to analyse the policy and contribute in implementing the policy with suggestions and opinions.
