Churachandpur district administration provides assistance for Hydrocephalus baby

Imphal: Acting swiftly on social media posts about a baby with swollen head from Mata Village, the Churachandpur District administration on Monday doled out monetary aid to the parents of the baby with swollen head at Mata village.

A female baby Hoihcy (name shortened) was born at District Hospital, Churachandpur on February 25. When the baby, the first child of a couple, attained one month, her mother Niangngaihkim discovered extreme swelling in the head which is medically termed as Hydrocephalus (low weight premature birth). The distraught parents have been running from pillar to posts as their infant struggle with the Hydrocephalus. The father of the child Lianmalsawm is a lumberjack, a press release by DIO, Churachandpur said.

The district administration handed Rs 20,000 financial assistance to the parents apart from assuring other benefits like job card, PM Kishan, CMHT etc to them.

Deputy commissioner Pawan Yadav, superintendent of police Amrita Sinha, ZEO N Chingkhei, SDO Ginmuan Ngaihte and doctors from medical department went to the couple’s rented residence at Mata village and handed over the financial assistance.

Yadav assured the mother of giving job card, CMHT benefits immediately. Besides, he also assured other logistics support to the parents as the child undergoes surgery at Imphal. The officials also wished a speedy recovery to the baby.

The condition of Baby Hoihcy came to light when it was circulated through social media. The social welfare department took cognizance of the matter and informed the district administration which in turn rushed to the aid of the parents, the press release said.
