Imphal: Troops of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) recovered Brown Sugar at Mobile Vehicles Check Post (MVCP) Tengnoupal on Wednesday.
During routine vehicles checking, troops of Tengnoupal Battalion, stopped an Eecho Van bearing registration number AS 01 BB 7724 (grey colour) driven by one Letkhokai Haokip, 25, years, son of Letkholum Haokip of K Monnaphai village, Tuibong TD Block, Churachandpur. The vehicle was travelling towards Imphal, The Assam Rifles said.
On carrying thorough check of the vehicle, 11 packets of suspected Brown Sugar worth Rs 28 Lakhs in International market were found hidden inside the bonnet of the vehicle, it added.
The apprehendee along with recovered items have been handed over to the Narcotics Control Bureau, Imphal for further investigations, the Assam Rifles said.
