Assam Rifles plants 32166 saplings


Imphal: Units of Assam Rifles, under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South), organised Tree Plantation Drives at various Company Operating Bases, over a period of four days.

The units organised the drive in respective areas with an aim to contribute in preserving and promoting healthy and pollution free environment. The plantation drive was organised at various locations in Imphal valley.

Mantripukhri Battalion organised tree plantations at Mantripukhri garrison, Sawombung, Koirengei and Yaingangpokpi Company Operating Bases. Keithelmanbi battalion also organised similar drive at Andro and Lilong Company Operating Bases.

Similarly, Thoubal battalion carried out tree plantation in the garrison and all Company Operating Bases. Tamenlong and Noney battalions also contributed and organised plantation drives at respective Company Operating Bases.

Over 1626 troops enthusiastically participated in the mega plantation drive and a total of 32166 saplings of various varieties including fruit bearing trees were planted during the event.
