Manipur COVID-19 update: 1 expired, 160 tested positive, 64 recovered

Imphal: A 39 years old man expired at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences here on Wednesday.

With this the cumulative number of COVID-19 related deaths reached 40 as on Wednesday.

In the past 24 hours, 135 persons from general population and 25 personnel from Central Armed Police Force were confirmed as new COVID-19 positive cases, state COVID-19 common control room said.

The positive cases are from VRDL, JNIMS — 53; RIMS RAT — 9; Raj Medicity — 11; Imphal West — 40; Advance Hospital — 1; Kangpokpi — 5; Maipakpi — 2; Imphal East — 14; RIMS RAT — 1; Babina Diagnostics — 5; Ukhrul — 1; Bishnupur — 12; Kakching — 4; IRL — 2.

They are from Imphal West — 52; Bishnupur — 12; Imphal East — 53; Kangpokpi — 5; Thoubal — 5; Kakching — 4; Ukhrul — 1; Senapati — 3. Three persons (Kakching — 2; Bishnupur — 1) are returnees from other states while the rest 132 are locals without any significant travel history. They are being shifted to the COVID care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, the control room said.

In the last 24 hours 64 persons were discharged from CAPF (6), JNIMS (37), RIMS (3), RD Wing (3), Tamenglong (2), CCC Thoubal (3), CCC Jiribam (6) and CCC JNV (4) after they were found COVID-19 free on RT PCR test.

The cumulative number of positive cases is 7,362 (general population — 5,624 and central security personnel — 1,738). The cumulative number of recovered cases is 5,548 (general population — 4335 and central security personnel — 1,213). The number of active cases is 1,774 (general population — 1,251 and central security personnel — 523). The recovery rate is 75.35 percent, the control room said.

In order to strengthen surveillance, testing and also for implementation of home isolation for the asymptomatic positive cases in Imphal West and Imphal East, measures have been taken up by identifying seven doctors from Imphal West and five doctors along with three supporting staff from Imphal East.
