Radheshyam attends national webinar on ‘Rashtriya Ekatmata Aur Hindi’

Imphal: Education minister Dr Thokchom Radheshyam on Monday attended National Webinar on ‘Rashtriya Ekatmata Aur Hindi’ on the occasion of Hindi Diwas organised by the department of Hindi, Manipur University in collaboration with Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas, NE Region at his office chamber.

Radheshyam said India’s strength is in its unity in diversity.

“Hindi, which is one of the official languages of our country, is like the thread in the garland binding varieties of flowers and Hindi language has been able to bring closeness and togetherness among the vast Indian population where many languages and dialects are spoken,” he said.
Though every region and people in India has their own language or dialect, Hindi is usually the preferred choice of language as the medium of communication. Whenever one travels outside the state, the common language for communication is Hindi, the minister said.

Globally Hindi is spoken by more than six hundred million people and is among the top languages that has the most speakers. The language because of its easiness and beauty is also loved by the people from across the world. Understanding its importance and value of the language it needs to be popularized. To realize the dream of making India a ‘Global Knowledge Super Power’ it is important that the Hindi language is developed and advanced, he added.

Hindi Diwas is celebrated on September 14 every year to celebrate the language and to commemorate the event when it was adopted as one of the official languages of India. The Constituent Assembly of India had, in 1949, recognised and adopted Hindi language written in the Devanagari script as the official language of the newly-formed nation.
Hindi is one of the two official languages of the Union government, the other being English. It is one of the 22 scheduled languages of the Republic of India.
