Death toll rises to 55, new 116 positive and 94 recovered Covid-19 cases

Imphal: Three more died of Covid-19, 117 tested positive while 94 were recovered in the past 24 hours as on Saturday 5 pm.

Three males aged 80, 57 and 65 passed away due to COVID-19 at RIMS and JNIMS. Both the 80 year old and 57 year old patients belong to Imphal West district while the 65 year old patient belong to Thoubal district. With this the cumulative number of deaths rose to 55.

The new positive cases including one central security personnel were from VRDL, JNIMS -21; VRDL, RIMS -24; Raj Medicity-7; Thoubal – 23; Churachandpur – 8; Imphal East – 3; Bishnupur – 4; Senapati – 2; Remedy Hospital – 1; Jivan Hospital – 2; Advance Hospital – 1; Babina Diagnostics -14; Jiribam – 1; Imphal east – 4; RIMS RAT – 2. They were from Imphal West-38; Thoubal -24; Churachandpur 8; Imphal East 33; Jiribam 1; Kakching 2; Bishnupur – 8; Senapati – 2.

Five persons (Senapati – 2, Bishnupur – 2, Churachndpur -1) out of the general population are returnees from other states while the rest 111 are locals without any significant travel history. They are being shifted to the Covid care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact racing are in place, Covid-19 common control room said.

The cumulative number of positive cases is 8724 and that of recovered cases is 6723. The number of
active cases is 1946 (general population – 1633 and central security personnel -313). The recovery rate is 77.06 percent, the control room said.

State Covid Treatment team is formed as a sub-committee consisting of 11 officials chaired by director, health services for inspection, supervision and guidance
of hospitals dedicated to Covid -19. The committee will supervise the centers regarding the use of state trusted prescription protocols on Covid -19 and shall give
feedbacks/suggestions for improving the patient care services so as to decrease morbidity and mortality, it added.
