‘There is no indication for COVID-19 situation going out of control’

Imphal: “The COVID-19 positivity rate is 4.76 percent. This is much lower than the national average of 7.5 percent. There is no indication that the COVID-19 situation is going out of control,” Manipur COVID-19 common control room said.

In order to augment the testing capacity in the state, a total of 1,35,000 rapid antigen kits have been procured. Up to 95% of the procured kits have been utilized in public and private health facilities. Further, the state has placed an order for 50,000 kits which is likely to be delivered within 2 – 3 days, the control room said.

It said in the past 24 hours, 125 persons from general population and 10 personnel from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) were confirmed as new COVID-19 positive cases.

The positive cases are from RIMS – 13; JNIMS – 51; Senapati – 3; Thoubal – 1; Raj Medicity – 10; Chandel – 3; Shija Hospital – 8; Noney – 6; Bishnupur – 5; Advance Hospital – 1; Mother’s Care – 1; Samaritan – 2. RD Wing – 2; Tamenglong – 8; Jivan Hospital – 4; Asian Hospital – 1; Babina – 11; Kangpokpi – 2; Tengnoupal – 3.

The positive cases from general population are from Imphal West – 33; Imphal East – 45: Kakching – 3; Churachandpur – 3; Kangpokpi – 1; Tengnoupal – 2: Bishnupur – 4: Senapati – 3; Ukhrul – 2; Noney – 6; Thoubal – 10; Chandel – 4; Tamenglong – 8; Kamjong – 1, it added.

Only one from Imphal East is a returnee while the rest are locals without any significant travel history. They are being shifted to the Covid Care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, the control room said.

In the last 24 hours, three females aged 80 years (Churachandpur), 62 years (Imphal West) and 80 years (Imphal West) expired at District Hospital, Churachandpur, RIMS and JNIMS respectively. The cumulative number of deaths is 78, it added.

A total number 148 were discharged from CAPF – 6, Home Isolation – 4, JNIMS – 1, RIMS – 5, UNACCO – 36, Lamboikhongnangkhong – 16, RD WING – 28, Tamenglong – 15, Kamjong – 1, Kasom Khullen – 3, Sadbhavna Mandop – 3, Lanva – 1, Noney – 1, Moreh – 2, TK Ukhrul – 1, JNV Chandel – 7, Landing Wangjing – 9 and CCC Thoubal – 9.

The cumulative number of positive cases is 12,240 (general population – 9,767 and central security personnel 2,473). The number of active cases is 2,680 (general population – 2,302 and central security personnel – 378). The recovery rate is 77. 46 percent the control room said.
