COVID-19 related death toll strikes 80

Imphal: In the last 24 hours till Wednesday 5 pm two males aged 75 years (Imphal East) and 40 years (Thoubal) expired at JNIMS pushing the cumulative number of deaths to 80.

During the period 243 persons from general population and six personnel from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) were confirmed as new COVID-19 positive cases.

The positive cases are from RIMS – 58, JNIMS – 86; Churachandpur – 24; Ukhrul – 4; Imphal West – 14; Senapati – 2; Thoubal – 1; Babina Diagnostics – 1; Raj Medicity – 6; Shija Hospital – 1; CMC – 1;Noney – 5; Imphal East – 7; Bishnupur – 15; Hillside Hospital – 5; Little Clinic – 1; RD Wing – 3; Tamenglong – 10; Advance Hospital – 3; Asian Hospital – 2. The positive cases from general population are from Imphal West – 87; Imphal East – 88;Thoubal – 3; Bishnupur – 17; Chandel – 1; Senapati – 2; Churachandpur – 26; Ukhrul – 4; Tamenglong – 10; Noney – 5, COVID-19 common control room said.

Nine from Imphal West are returnees while the rest are locals without any significant travel history. They are being shifted to the Covid care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it added.

A total of 122 COVID-19 patients were discharged from CAPF – 6, Home Isolation – 1, RIMS – 7, Lamboikhong – 12, UNACCO – 17, Noney – 15, Sadbhavna Mandop – 3, PR Kakching – 7, RD Wing – 9, TK Ukhrul – 17, Jiribam – 1, Lamding – 11, Thoubal – 14 and JNV Chandel – 2.

The cumulative number of positive cases is 12,489 (general population – 10,010 and central security personnel – 2,479). The number of active cases is 2,805 (general population – 2,427 and central security personnel – 378). The recovery rate is 76.89 percent, the control room said.
