Police remain busy for peaceful re-poll

Imphal: In view of the forthcoming by-elections in Manipur that fall on November 7, state police have been hectic taking up measures to prevent from unwanted issues.

Thoubal Police continued to seize guns; on Monday, a combined team of Thoubal Police commando and Lilong Police personnel seized three double barrel guns during a cordon house to house search operation conducted at Lilong Bazar area from 4:50 am to 7 am.

About 120 houses were searched and about 350 individuals including women were verified. However, no individuals were picked up during the search operation.

In another police move, a combined team of Khongjom Police and Thoubal Police commando raided a house belonging to Nameirakpam Inao Singh, son of N. Hemchandra Singh residence of Tentha Tuwaband and seized utensils and materials which are used in production of DIC liquor from Tentha Tuwaband area on the same day.

The sized items include two steel konpaks (container), one blue plastic water container which has the capacity to contain 30 kgs of fermented rice, thre empty korphu ( pot like container), one plastic bucket, two bottles of DIC liquor of about one and half litres.

Inao along with his wife were taken to Khongjom Police station. They were later handed over to excise department for further necessary proceedings.
