237 more tested positive for COVID-19

Imphal: In the past twenty-four hours, 230 persons from general population and 7 personnel from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) were confirmed as new COVID-19 positive cases.

The positive cases are from JNIMS — 81; Swiss — 1; Thoubal — 11; Noney — 1; Kangpokpi — 3; Maipakpi — 2; Tengnoupal — 2; Churachandpur — 8; Imphal East — 5; Bishnupur — 8; Kakching — 6; Little Hospital — 1; Mother’s Care — 5; Advance Hospital — 6; RD Wing — 1; Raj Medicity — 8; Jivan Hospital — 1; Babina — 11; Chamber — 1; Imphal Hospital — 2; Samaritan — 3; Tamenglong — 14; Shija Hospital — 17; RIMS — 39. The positive cases from general population are from Imphal West — 68; Imphal East — 92; Bishnupur — 13; Churachandpur — 10; Noney — 1; Tamenglong — 15; Thoubal — 19; Kakching — 6; Noney — 1; Kangpokpi — 3; Tengnoupal — 2, state COVID-19 common control room said.

Eight persons are returnees while the rest are locals without any significant travel history. They are being shifted to the COVID Care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it added.

In the last 24 hours, four persons aged 80 years (male, Kangpokpi), 64 years (female, Imphal West), 49 years (male, Imphal West) and 45 years (male, Thoubal) expired at JNIMS, RIMS and Shija Hospital (2) respectively. The cumulative number of deaths is 97.

The total number of discharged persons is 122. They are from CAPF — 4; Home Isolation — 23; RIMS — 8, Tamenglong — 3, JNV Chandel — 4, Kangpokpi — 4, PR Kakching — 5, TK Ukhrul — 1, Thoubal — 7, Bishnupur — 2, UNACCO — 15, Lamboikhong — 43, Jiribam — 2.

The cumulative number of positive cases is 13,793 (general population — 11,245 and central security personnel — 2,548). The number of active cases is 2867 (general population — 2,516 and central security personnel — 351). The recovery rate is 78.51 percent, the control room said.

It said it is learnt from the print media that some individuals undergo COVID-19 testing at two different laboratories, apparently to validate the result from the first lab against that of the second lab. Such validation testing creates confusion and is not allowed under the SOP for testing issued on 17’h September, 2020 by the government. If a test is to be repeated for whatsoever reasons within 7 days of the first test, approval from a competent authority described in the SOP is necessary. All labs (public and private) are requested not to entertain customers requesting such test.
