Manipur records highest single day spike of over 400 COVID cases

Imphal: Manipur on Saturday recorded highest single day COVID-19 positive cases with 416 positive cases. Out of the total positive cases 406 were among the general population and 10 were Central Armed Police Force (CAPF). On the other hand, 198 were discharged from the hospitals.

According to state health department, 12 were returnees from other states while the rest were locals without any significant travel history.

Meanwhile, the death toll due to COVID-19 reached 111 with 2 more deaths recorded on Saturday. An 82 years old male from Imphal East and 63 years old female from Chanel districts expired at Shija Hospital and Jivan Hospital respectively on Saturday.

The cumulative number of positive cases reached 15,141 (General Population – 12,511 and Central Security Personnel – 2,630). The cumulative number of recovered cases is 11,443 (General Population – 9,127 and Central Security Personnel – 2,316). The number of active cases is 3,587 (General Population -3277 and Central Security Personnel – 310) and the recovery rate stands at 75.57%.
