Biren greets people on Mera Houchongba

Imphal: Manipur chief minister Nongthombam Biren Singh greets the people of the state on the occasion of Mera Houchonga festival which strengthens the bond of love and brotherhood among the people in hills and valley.

Mera Hou Chongba, which falls on Saturday for this year. It is celebrated annually on the full-moon of the month of Mera in Manipuri lunar calendar since time immemorial.

The festival endeavours to promote brotherhood, peace and unity among indigenous communities living in the hill and valley of the state, the chief minister said.

It marks the solidarity among different ethnic groups in Manipur and symbolises our belief in the principle of pluralism and co-existence, he added.

“On this joyous occasion, I extend my heartiest greetings and warm wishes to the people of Manipur. Let us together reaffirm our unyielding commitment to maintain unity and harmony among our different communities,” Biren said.
