Manipur records 222 new COVID-19 cases; 132 recovered

Imphal: In Manipur, 207 persons from general population and 15 personnel from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) were confirmed as new COVID-19 positive cases on Thursday.

According to COVID-19 common control room, the positive cases were tested at JNIMS (70), RIMS (23), Imphal East (2), Imphal West (29), Shija Hospital (16), Swiss (1), CMC (2), Iboyaima (3), Raj Medicity (5), Hillside (5), Asian Hospital (1), Advance Hospital (2), Escent Diagnostics(2), Thoubal (1), Bishnupur (2), Churachandpur (11), Tamenglong (14), Tengnoupal (2), Ukhrul (2), Senapati (1), Chandel (2) and Babina Diagnostics (24).

“The positive cases from general population are from Imphal West (75), Imphal East (85), Thoubal (5), Kangpokpi (8), Bishnupur (6), Kakching (1), Senapati (2), Ukhrul (2), Churachandpur (4), Tamenglong (14), Tengnoupal (2), Kamjong (1) and Chandel (2),” said COVID-19 common control room. They added that among the positive cases from general population, 92 were males and the remaining 115 were females and all of them are locals without any significant travel history. They are being shifted to Covid Care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

In the last 24 hours, two persons aged 66 and 54 years expired at RIMS, Imphal. The first patient is a male from Imphal Kamjong while the second patient is a female from Thoubal. The cumulative number of deaths is 189.

Meanwhile, 132 persons were cured and discharged in the last 24 hours. “They are from CAPF (6), Home Isolation (11), RIMS (23), LKK (7), UNACCO (42), LANVA (4), RD Wing (10), TK Ukhrul (1), Bal Bhavan (3), Sadhbhavna (1), JNV Chandel (1), Thoubal (7) and Lamding (16)”, said COVID-19 common control room.

As of 5pm Thursday, the cumulative number of positive cases is 19,725 with 16,921 from General Population and 2,804 from Central Security Personnel. The cumulative number of recovered cases is 15,750 out of which 13,262 are from General Population and the remaining 2,488 are from Central Security Personnel. The number of active cases is 3,786 out of which 3,474 are from General Population and the remaining 312 are from Central Security Personnel. The rate of recovery is 79.84%.
