COVID-19 related death toll hits 200 mark

Imphal: As on Tuesday two persons expired due to COVID-19 pushing the disease related death toll to 200 mark in Manipur.

In the last 24 hours, two persons aged 47 years (male, Thoubal), 58 years (male, Kakching) expired at PHC/HWC Mayang Imphal and JNIMS hospital respectively, COVID-19 common control room said.

During the 24 hours, 215 persons from general population and 4 personnel from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) were confirmed as new positive cases.

The positive cases from general population were from Imphal West (95), Imphal East (36), Thoubal (15), Bishnupur (13), Ukhrul (3), Tamenglong (16), Tengnoupal (2), Kamjong (1), Kakching (5), Kangpokpi (2), Churachandpur (17), Chandel (4), Jiribam (2) and Senapati (4).

“All are locals without any significant travel history. They are being shifted to the COVID Care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place,” the control room said.

It said the total number of discharged persons was 275.

The cumulative number of positive cases was 20,777 (general population – 17,941 and central security personnel – 2,836). The cumulative number of active cases was 3,043 (general population – 2,815 and central security personnel – 228). The recovery rate was 84.39 percent
