5 deaths due to COVID-19 while recovery rate remains above 84%

Manipur has been facing an increase in death counts due to COVID-19 in the past 72 hours but the state has also been maintaining a recovery rate above 84% for the last 5 days.

In the past 24 hours, 211 persons were confirmed positive due to COVID-19 pandemic among which 194 cases came from general population and the remaining 17 cases came from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel. The fresh positive cases were tested at JNIMS (52), RIMS (27), Imphal East (4), Imphal West (18), CMC (2), Maipakpi (1), Hillside (2), Escent Diagnostics (6), Samaritan (1), Shija Hospital (7), Christian Hospital (1), Advance Hospital (5), Asian Hospital (2), Jivan Hospital (1), Public Hospital (1), Raj Medicity (11), Thoubal (3), Bishnupur (14), Tamenglong (18), Churachandpur (11), Senapati (2), Kamjong (2), Tengnoupal (1) and Babina Diagnostics (19).

Among the general population, 99 were males and 95 were females. They belong to Imphal West (58), Imphal East (64), Thoubal (14), Bishnupur (21), Kakching (1), Ukhrul (1), Tamenglong (18), Churachandpur (6), Kangpokpi (1), Tengnoupal (1), Kamjong (5) and Senapati (4) respectively.

COVID common control room said, “All are locals without any significant travel history. They are being shifted to the Covid Care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.”

In the past 24 hours, 5 persons expired at expired at Raj Medicity, Jivan Hospital, JNIMS and RIMS Hospital. The deceased persons were 65 year-old and 47 year-old males from Kakching and 45 year-old, 63 year-old and 67 year-old males from Imphal West. The cumulative number of deaths is 218 with 214 deaths from general population and 4 deaths from central security personnel.

The total number of discharged persons is 190. They are from CAPF (3), Home Isolation (128), JNIMS (4), LKK (21), UNACCO (13), RD Wing (4), Bal Bhavan (3), Thoubal (4), Noney (3), Moreh (3) and Tamenglong (4).

The cumulative number of positive cases is 21,636 with 18,750 from general population and 2,886 from central security personnel. The cumulative number of recovered cases is 18,334 out of which 15,703 are from general population and 2,631 are from central security personnel. The number of active cases is 3,084 with 2,833 and 251 cases from general population and central security personnel respectively. The recovery rate further pushed to 84.73%.
