Manipur reports zero COVID-19 deaths; 95 confirmed positive during targeted testing in Wangoi

Imphal: 95 persons were confirmed positive of COVID-19 during a targeted testing conducted in Wangoi Assembly Constituency.

In the past 24 hours, 230 new positive cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in the state. This includes a positive case from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), the 95 positive cases from Wangoi Assembly Constituency along with the remaining 134 cases from other general population. They were tested at JNIMS (6), RIMS (13), Imphal East (5), Imphal West (103), Escent Diagnostics (3), IRL (2), Sielmat (1), Raj Medicity (4), Hillside (2), Iboyaima (1), Shija Hospital (14), Thoubal (10), Bishnupur (18), Kakching (10), Tamenglong (5), Ukhrul (4), Churachandpur (6), Jiribam (2), Noney (1) and Babina Diagnostics (20). However, no death was reported in the state.

Among all the positive cases from general population, 128 were males and 101 were females. They belong to Imphal West (142), Imphal East (23), Thoubal (14), Bishnupur (20), Kakching (10), Ukhrul (4), Tamenglong (5), Churachandpur (8), Kangpokpi (1) and Jiribam (2) districts.

COVID Common Control Room said, “All are locals without any significant travel history. They are being shifted to the Covid Care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.”

Meanwhile, 172 persons were recovered and discharged in the past 24 hours. They are from CAPF (15), Home Isolation (79), RIMS (22), LKK (11), UNACCO (13), PR Kakching (21), TK Ukhrul (2), Sadbhavna (2), Thoubal (3), Bishnupur (3) and Jiribam (1).

The cumulative number of positive cases is 22,548 with 19,630 cases from general population and 2,918 cases from central security personnel. The cumulative number of recovered cases is 19,431 out of which 16,713 are from general population and 2,718 are from central security personnel. The number of active cases is 2,886 out of which 2,690 and 196 cases are from general population and central security personnel respectively. The cumulative number of deaths is 231. The recovery rate is 86.17%.
