Manipur records November’s highest single-day spike as the recovered cases reached over 20,000

Imphal: Manipur witnessed the highest single-day spike for the month of November with 382 positive cases, while the number of people who have recovered from COVID-19 has reached over 20,000 mark. During the post-by-election targeted testing in Lilong and Wangjing assembly constituencies on Sunday, 23 were confirmed positive.

In the past 24 hours, 306 persons from general population and 76 Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel were confirmed positive of the disease. They were tested at JNIMS (167), RIMS (19), Imphal East (5), Imphal West (74), Maipakpi (1), CMC (2), Escent Diagnostics (6), Shija Hospital (9), Christian Hospital (1), Hillside (1), Raj Medicity (14), RD Wing (2), Thoubal (28), Bishnupur (9), Tamenglong (12), Ukhrul (2), Churachandpur (11) and Babina Diagnostics (19).

Among the 306 positive cases from general population which included the new 23 cases from Lilong and Wangjing assembly constituencies, 167 were males and 139 were females. They belong to Imphal West (127), Imphal East (66), Thoubal (35), Bishnupur (15), Kakching (3), Chandel (1), Ukhrul (2), Tamenglong (12), Tengnoupal (3), Churachandpur (38), Senapati (2) and Kangpokpi (2) districts.

“All are locals without any significant travel history. They are being shifted to the Covid Care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place,” said COVID Common Control Room.

In the past 24 hours, 3 persons expired at RIMS and Shija Hospital. They were 61 year-old male from Imphal West, 45 year-old male from Thoubal and 74 year-old male from Bishnupur districts. The cumulative number of deaths is 236.

Meanwhile, 205 patients were recovered and discharged from Home Isolation (127), RIMS (8), JNIMS (3), LKK (1), LANVA (3), UNACCO (19), RD Wing (10), Sadbhavna (2), PR Kakching (7), TK Ukhrul (13), Bal Bhavan (5), Thoubal (1), Lamding (3), Kamjong (2) and Kasom Khullen (1).

The cumulative number of positive cases is 23,400 with 20,353 from general population and 3,047 from central security personnel. The cumulative number of recovered cases is 20,018 out of which 17,264 are from general population and 2,754 are from central security personnel. The number of active cases is 3,146 with 2,857 and 289 cases from general population and central security personnel respectively. The recovery rate is 85.54%.
