‘Eco-tourism project slated to be completed by early 2021′

Imphal: Tourism minister O. Lukhoi Singh on Tuesday assured that the eco-tourism project at Cheiraoching, Thangmeiband, Imphal will be completed by early 2021.

Lukhoi said this during his inspection of the various infrastructures development of the eco-tourism project under Non-lapsable Central Pool of Resources (NLCPR) Scheme, ministry of Development of North Eastern Region.

He expressed that this place will serve as a recreational tourist destination for the people of the state and abroad where one can fully enjoy the landscape of Imphal City. Being located in the heart of the city, it was taken into consideration to develop the site to make it convenient for easy access of the tourist.

The project was taken up with due interest by the chief minister N. Biren and various tourist spots in Manipur are also in the pipeline, he added.

Lukhoi along with the inspection team checked the ground situation of the various infrastructures development of the project at Cheiraoching viz. renovation of statue area, Steps upto 1st Peak, ticket counter, Parking, Memorial Monuments, Resource Building, constructions of Guest House, Fencing around Cafeterian, Horticulture Garden, Information Centre, Watch Tower – I and Watch Tower – II amongst others.

Lukhoi informed that the total costs of the project is Rs 13.30 crore, out of which 40 percent of the amount were released till date. Tourism department has already submitted UC to the ministry. He expressed his hopefulness of the remaining amount to be sanctioned by the ministry at the earliest for timely completion of the project.
