192 more tested positive for COVID-19, 5 expired

Imphal: In Manipur, in the past 24 hours till Wednesday 5 pm, 192 persons from general population were found positive for COVID-19, which includes seven new cases from Lilong and Wangjing Assembly Constituencies and one personnel from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF).

The positive cases from general population are from Imphal West (69), Imphal East (77), Thoubal (13), Bishnupur (11), Tamenglong (2), Churachandpur (9), Senapati (2), Kamjong (4), Chandel (1), Jiribam (2) and Kangpokpi (2).

“All are locals without any significant travel history. They are being shifted to the COVID Care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing am in place” says COVID-19 common control room.

It said in the last 24 hours, five persons aged 57 years (male, Churachandpur), 39 years (male, Imphal East), 55 years (female, Bishnupur), 44 years (male, Imphal East) and 70 years (female, Imphal West) expired at Shija Hospital (2) and JNIMS Hospital (3) respectively.

The cumulative number of deaths rise to 245.

The cumulative number of positive cases was 24,133 (general population – 21,061 and central security personnel – 3,072). The number of active cases was 3,248 (general population – 2,940 and central security personnel – 308). The recovery rate was 85.52 percent.
