7 more deaths reported; Night Curfew to be imposed in Manipur

Imphal: Manipur reported 7 new deaths due to COVID-19 further pushing the tally to 256.

7 persons expired at RIMS (2) and JNIMS (5) due to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. The deceased persons are 75 year-old male, 55 year-old female and 32 year-old female from Imphal East and 75 year-old, 67 year-old, 80 year-old and 58 year-old males from Imphal West districts.

In the past 24 hours, 222 persons were confirmed positive of COVID-19 in the state out of which 218 are from general population and 4 are from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF). They were tested at JNIMS (72), RIMS (35), Imphal East (6), Imphal West (20), Maipakpi (1), Mother’s Care (2), Shija Hospital (14), Advance Hospital (3), Hillside (2), Samaritan (4), Raj Medicity (1), Escent Diagnostics (5), Thoubal (21), Bishnupur (5), Tamenglong (4), Ukhrul (4), Churachandpur (6), Kangpokpi (1) and Babina Diagnostics (16).

Among the 218 positive cases from general population, 120 are males and 98 are females. They belong to Imphal West (80), Imphal East (72), Thoubal (32), Bishnupur (11), Kakching (2), Tamenglong (5), Ukhrul (4), Churachandpur (11) and Noney (1) districts.

COVID Common Control Room said, “All are locals without any significant travel history. They are being shifted to the Covid Care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.”

208 persons were recovered and discharged in the past 24 hours from CAPF (6), Home Isolation (160), RIMS (10), JNIMS (2), LKK (9), Sadbhavna (1), PR Kakching (1), JNV Chandel (1), Thoubal (11) and Lamding (6).

Meanwhile, the Home Department of Manipur issued an order on Friday to impose night curfew from 6 pm to 4 am in the state.

The cumulative number of positive cases is 24,514 with 21,438 from general population and 3,076 from central security personnel. The cumulative number of recovered cases is 21,006 out of which 18,240 are from general population and 2,766 are from central security personnel. The number of active cases is 3,252 with 2,946 and 306 cases from general population and central security personnel respectively. The recovery rate is 85.68%.
