235 more tested positive for COVID-19, 7 expired

Imphal: A total of 230 persons from general population and five personnel from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) were confirmed as new COVID-19 positive cases, on Saturday.

The positive cases from general population are from Imphal West (77), Imphal East (42), Thoubal (16), Bishnupur (16), Kakching (16), Tamenglong (6), Ukhrul (1), Senapati (4), Kangpokpi (1), Churachandpur (47), Chandel (1), Tengnoupal (1), Jiribam (1) and Noney (1).

“All are locals without any significant travel history. They are being shifted to the COVID Care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place,” COVID-19 common control room said.

In the last 24 hours, seven persons aged 90 years (male, Tamenglong), 27 years (female, Chandel), 62 years (male, Imphal West), 69 years (male, Imphal West), 62 years (male, Imphal West), 80 years (male, Imphal East) and 88 years (male, Thoubal) expired at District Hospital Tamenglong, District Hospital Churachandpur and JNIMS Hospital (5) respectively.

The cumulative number of deaths rose to 263.

The control room said , the total number of discharged persons is 197. They are from CAPF (12), Home Isolation (144), JNIMS (1), LKK (9), LANVA (5), UNACCO (9), Sadbhavna (2), Rajmed (2), JNV Chandel (7), Thoubal (2), Bishnupur (9), Kangpokpi (1) and Jiribam (1).

The cumulative number of positive cases was 24,749 (general population – 21,668 and central security personnel – 3,081). The number of active cases was 3,283 (general population – 2,984 and central security personnel – 299).

The recovery rate stood at 85.67 percent.
