Assam Rifles seizes huge timber

Imphal: ​Assam Rifles intercepted huge consignment of timber costing worth crores being ferried without legal documents close to Angbreshu village in Chandel district on December 10.

​Based on specific intelligence input regarding the movement of illicit timber along NH – 102, a deliberate operation was launched by the troops of Assam Rifles and seized four large capacity vehicles carrying wooden logs without legal documents worth crores. The recovered logs of timber have been handed over to forest department Chandel for further legal action.

​Assam Rifles is playing prominent role in saving the environment from such wood smugglers in North Eastern states, the Assam Rifles said.
