3 deaths reported while active cases decline, CM appeals people to follow SOP strictly

Imphal: Manipur witnessed a sudden decline in active cases in the past 3 days from more than 3000 to less than 2000 cases. The sudden drop in active cases was reported on December 14 after reconciliation with the reports of Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP).

3 persons expired at Shija Hospital and RIMS, Imphal in the past 24 hours. The deceased persons are 67 year-old male from Chandel, 70 year-old male and 62 year-old female from Imphal West districts. The cumulative number of deaths is 332.

In the past 24 hours, 81 persons were tested positive for COVID-19 out of which 69 belong to general population and the remaining 12 were Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel. They were tested at JNIMS (19), RIMS (18), Imphal West (3), Hillside (1), CMC (1), Escent Diagnostics (2), Shija Hospital (10), Raj Medicity (2), Advance Hospital (2), Jivan Hospital (1), Thoubal (9), Bishnupur (4), Churachandpur (2), Kangpokpi (1), Pherzawl (1) and Babina Diagnostics (5).

Among the positive cases from general population, 35 are males and 34 are females. They belong to Imphal West (21), Imphal East (20), Thoubal (12), Bishnupur (9), Kakching (1), Senapati (1), Kangpokpi (1), Pherzawl (1) and Churachandpur (3) districts.

“All are locals without any significant travel history. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place,” said COVID Common Control Room in their 5 pm report on Thursday.

143 persons were recovered and discharged from RIMS (6), JNIMS (6), CAPF (12), Home Isolation (100), LKK (5), UNACCO (4), Rajmed (1), PR Kakching (2), DH Churachandpur (1), Bal Bhavan (3) and Thoubal (3) during the same period of time.

Meanwhile, Manipur chief minister N. Biren Singh posted on facebook about the decreasing number of positive cases in the state.

The cumulative number of positive cases is 27,454 with 24,130 from general population and 3,324 from central security personnel. The cumulative number of recovered cases is 25,250 out of which 22,132 are general population and 3,118 are central security personnel. The number of active cases is 1,872 with 1,670 and 202 cases from general population and central security personnel respectively. The recovery rate is 91.97%.
