Manipur government warns action against doctor’s agitation

Imphal: Directorate of health services, Manipur on Monday has warned to take against health workers who take up any form of agitation.

The official directive came following All Manipur Health Service Doctors Association’s (AMHSDA) decision to stop emergency services from Monday.

Home department has prohibited any form of agitation, which disrupts or dislocates the functioning of the Government Health Services, launched by the AMHSDA, an official notification of the health department said .

It said consequent upon the issue of the above order under section 3(1) of the Manipur Essential Services Maintenance Act, 1984 and in accordance with section 3(4) : no person employed in any essential service to which the order relates shall go or remain on strike; any strike declared or commenced, whether before or after the issue of the order, by persons employed in any such service shall be illegal.

It informs all the MHS officers to continue providing all healthcare services including emergency and OPD services in all the government health nstitutions/hospitals. Non-compliance will be treated as offence under the Manipur Essential Services Maintenance Act, 1984 and action will be taken accordingly.

All CMOs/ medical superintendents shall mandatorily submit a daily report to the director of health services and additional director of health services(MD) at 5 PM everyday the notification added.

AMHSDA, among others, demands non practising allowances as per the central government pay norms and not to alow private practise by any of the MHS officers.

It urges the government to approve and adopt the Draft Manipur Health Services Rules submitted by the association on February 19 and repatriation of the MHS officer deputed at JNIMS for three more years.
